Pedestrian Dies After Richmond Highway Crash: Police

Police say the victim of Tuesday's crash was an 82-year-old Springfield man.

HUNTINGTON, VA—The pedestrian struck Tuesday, March 26 on Richmond Highway has died, according to Fairfax County Police.

The crash happened around 8 a.m. on Richmond Highway at Fairhaven Avenue in the Huntington area. The victim, John Bright, 82, of Springfield, died Thursday in the hospital.

Investigations found the pedestrian was crossing Richmond Highway when a 2000 Toyota Echo making a left turn from Fairhaven Avenue struck him. Bright had been in the crosswalk.

The driver, Robin Greene of Florida, remained at the scene to cooperate with police. The driver was charged with failing to pay full time and attention to driving. Police do not believe speed or alcohol factored into the crash.
