Pedestrian Killed On Richmond Highway In Fairfax County: Police

The vehicle that struck the pedestrian stayed on the scene, Fairfax County Police say.

HUNTINGTON, VA—A pedestrian was struck and killed in Huntington Thursday night, according to Fairfax County Police.

The crash happened around 9:30 p.m. in the 5900 block of Richmond Highway. Investigations show the pedestrian was trying to cross Richmond Highway at Fort Hunt Road. A 2015 Lexus RC 350 heading south on Richmond Highway stuck her. Police do not believe she was in a crosswalk.

Nelissa Alston, 51, of Alexandria was pronounced dead by fire and rescue personnel on the scene.

The driver remained on the scene to cooperate with officers. Speed or alcohol are likely not factors in the crash.
