Pedestrian Struck By Car In Mount Vernon

The pedestrian had been flown to the hospital with serious injuries after the crash on Mount Vernon Memorial Highway.

MOUNT VERNON, VA—A crash on Mount Vernon Memorial Highway left a pedestrian with serious but not life-threatening injuries Thursday evening.

A car hit the pedestrian jogging at the intersection with Southwood Drive shortly before 5 p.m. Police say traffic had stopped in the eastbound direction, but westbound traffic was still moving when the pedestrian crossed.

A medical helicopter took the victim, a juvenile, to the hospital. The driver stayed on scene, but police say no charges have been filed yet. The investigation continues.
