Person Shoots ATM In Bizarre Robbery Attempt
Police seek the person that tried to steal from an ATM machine with a shotgun in Mount Vernon.
MOUNT VERNON, VA—We've heard of armed robberies, but usually there are victims involved. But in a new bizarre case in Mount Vernon, surveillance footage caught a person shooting at an ATM.
Police say the unknown suspect used a shotgun in an attempt to steal money from an ATM at BB&T Bank in the 8600 block of Richmond Highway Sunday. Around 11 a.m., a customer discovered pieces of the ATM were missing and scattered on the ground.
Surveillance footage revealed the attempted robbery took place around 4:45 a.m. that morning. But the unknown suspect wasn't able to crack the code of the machine, as no money was taken. Police believe the person left the area in a four-door sedan.
