Physical Training and Nutrition to Finally Lose Belly Fat
Regular exercise and eating balanced meals and snacks can help you not just lose belly fat, but also meet your weight loss goals
For many of us, losing belly fat and even just the idea of losing ANY weight is downright intimidating. Where do you even begin? Here are 5 tips to get your started!
- Get a few extra hours of sleep - it's is one of the best ways to shed extra fat around your belly.
- Get outside. Natural sunlight can actually help you lose belly fat, so take your yoga, run or stretching to the great outdoors!
- Be sure to use weights. Studies show that people who add weight training to their physical training program reduce their risk of abdominal obesity.
- Eat more fiber. It fills you up and makes you feel full longer, so you naturally eat less. Foods to look for: avocados, Brussels sprouts, flaxseeds and blackberries.
- Nix the stress. Stress is a not-so-secret cause of weight gain. It triggers your body to produce cortisol, aka the “stress hormone.” Increased cortisol = increased appetite and abdominal fat storage. Research shows that women who already have a large waist tend to produce more cortisol when they are stressed, making it harder to lose belly fat.
Exercise is a fantastic stress reliever! To lose that stubborn belly fat, try a variety of MTVAC's weight loss training programs to find the one that works for you. This could include personal training, group fitness and even nutrition training. It's a battle (of the bulge), not a war. Remember not to be too hard on yourself and celebrate small victories!
