Man Killed In Mount Vernon Crash Remembered

The co-founder of a GOP fundraising firm died in a Mount Vernon area crash near his home.

MOUNT VERNON, VA—Police have identified the victim of a Friday night crash in Mount Vernon. Jonathan Graham, 34, of Alexandria died after two cars collided.

The two vehicle accident happened in the 8900 block of Old Mount Vernon Road, police tweeted at 9:22 p.m. Friday. Covering the Corridor reports that Graham's Porsche hit a Mercedes Benz SUV turning left on Old Mount Vernon Road. The SUV driver had minor injuries. Graham was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.

Graham co-founded Gula Graham, a fundraising and political consulting firm serving Republican members of Congress, in 2009. Previously he was a finance director for the 2004 and 2006 campaigns of former Rep. Chris Chocola (R-Ind.).

According to a GoFundMe account set up in remembrance of Graham, his wife Dria is expecting a baby boy. Friends decided to start the fundraiser covering education for Jon and Dria's son. "Jon was a man of strong faith and was one of the most generous individuals we ever had the honor of knowing. Jon was always willing to help a friend or loved one in need, regardless of the circumstances," states the page.

Graham's death was announced in Politico Playbook on Sunday. The firm said in a tweet his wife Dria "will be fully supported with our love and prayers."

"This weekend we lost a beloved member of the GG family," reads a statement from the company. "Jon Graham was killed in a tragic car accident near his home in Mount Vernon. We are filled with sorrow and sadness. He was a loyal friend and business partner. He is irreplaceable in the hearts of everyone who knew him."

A celebration of Graham's life will be held Thursday, Aug. 30 at 4 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church , 2501 Beacon Hill Road, Alexandria. A reception will immediately follow at Mount Vernon Country Club, 5111 Old Mill Road, Alexandria.
