Body Found In Hybla Valley Woods, Likely Gang-Related

Police found a body buried in the North Hill Park woods that may be tied to gang activity.

HYBLA VALLEY, VA—Fairfax County Police located a body in the woods in Hybla Valley Thursday morning. Police Chief Ed Roessler Jr. said at a press conference the incident is likely tied to gang activity.

Detectives received information Tuesday night that a body was in the woods in North Hill Park. Police encountered a freshly-dug grave and secured the scene. It took Wednesday and Thursday morning to find the body, which was buried in the ground.

The body has not yet been identified. The medical examiner will perform an autopsy to identify the person, as well as the cause and manner of death.

Roessler told reporters there's a "high probability" it was an isolated event with no threat to the public.
