Police: Woman Locked Child in Running Car

The Maryland resident is facing child neglect charge, say Fairfax County police.

The Fairfax County police arrested a Maryland woman on Monday after she allegedly left her 1-year-old child in a locked car with the engine running, according to a police report.

Maria Lopez-Turcios, 28, of Fort Washington, Md., was charged with misdemeanor child neglect after police found the car at about 1:24 p.m. in the 6300 block of Richmond Highway (Route 1), south of the city of Alexandria, the police said.

The toddler was taken to a local hospital, “and found to be in good health,” the police said.
