Rape Attempt At Richmond Highway Bus Stop Leads To Arrest

Fairfax County Police have charged a suspect with an attempted rape at a bus stop on Richmond Highway.

HYBLA VALLEY, VA — A man is facing charges for an attempted rape and abduction on Richmond Highway Tuesday, according to Fairfax County Police.

Police had responded around 1:50 p.m. Tuesday to an assault and attempted rape near a bus stop at Richmond Highway and Ladson Lane in Hybla Valley. The female victim fought off the suspect and fled. The suspect fled toward Richmond Highway.

Police did not initially find the suspect, but detectives later learned he was caught on a police camera mounted to a pole. As the investigation determined the time of the crime, an image cameras captured of the suspect led police to identify him as Okezie Boniface Erondu, 36, of Alexandria.

Fairfax County Police Department

Police located and arrested Erondu around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday nearby. He was charged with attempted rape and abduction and is being held without bond.
