Richmond Highway Crash Critically Injures Minor: Police
A two-vehicle crash in the Groveton area caused life-threatening injuries to a minor passenger, leading to charges for the other driver.

GROVETON, VA — A minor passenger was critically injured in a two-vehicle crash on Richmond Highway in Groveton Tuesday, according to Fairfax County Police.
The crash happened around 8:53 p.m. Tuesday on Richmond Highway at Holly Hill Road. Detectives believe a 2003 Infiniti driver was heading north on Richmond Highway when the vehicle struck a 2010 Nissan Altima attempting a left turn into a parking lot in the 7100 block.
Fairfax County Fire and Rescue personnel witnessed the crash and immediately provided aid. The minor passenger went to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and remains hospitalized.

Preliminary investigations show speed and alcohol may have been factors in the crash, according to police. The Infiniti driver, Jermaine Ridgely, 45, of Alexandria, was charged with driving under the influence and cited for failing to obey a highway sign. He was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and held without bond.
