Richmond Highway Project Estimated to Take 10 Years
The plan include a Bus Rapid Transit system, pedestrian and bicyclist improvements and additional lanes on a portion of Route 1.

Fairfax County has revealed initial plans for the Richmond Highway project, which includes a Bus Rapid Transit System, more lanes on the road and improvements for pedestrians and bicyclists.
The county held a public meeting Tuesday at West Potomac High School, WTOP reported. The next meeting is 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Mount Vernon High School cafeteria.
Officials estimated it would take 10 years and $720 million dollars to complete the project. The county's Bus Rapid Transit system would run from the Huntington Metro Station to Fort Belvoir. The plan paves the way for a longer-term goal of expanding the Metro Yellow Line to Hybla Valley.
