Staffing Challenges Prompt Hour Changes At Fairfax Libraries

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — Fairfax County Public Library will begin limiting hours on Aug. 14 due to staff recruitment challenges.

The hour adjustments will affect community and regional branch libraries, allowing libraries to remain open with one staff shift per day. According to the library, the hours will remain indefinitely.

Starting Aug. 14, regional branches will be open Mondays and Tuesdays from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Wednesdays through Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The current hours for regional branches are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Wednesdays and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays.

Community branches will be open Mondays from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. Current hours are Mondays and Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays.

Hours for the Access Services branch at Fairfax County Government Center will continue to be Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
