Suspect Arrested In Armed Robbery At Hybla Valley Shoe Store: Police

HYBLA VALLEY, VA — Prince George's County Police in Maryland arrested a suspect wanted in connection to the armed robbery of a Hybla Valley shoe store last month.

Fairfax County Police responded around 5:38 p.m., on July 16, to the Downtown Locker Room at 7656 Richmond Highway for the report of an armed robbery.

Investigators determined that two men entered the store and asked to see several pairs of shoes. When the employee returned, the two men showed that they had a firearm, according to police. After taking the shoes and demanding cash, the suspects left the store and drove off in a black sports utility vehicle.

Based on information provided by FCPD, Prince George's County Police located the suspect's vehicle and arrested the driver, who was identified as 34-year-old Derek Lynn Davis of Maryland. The second suspect was not in the SUV, according to police.

FCPD detectives charged Davis with robbery and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
