Three People Displaced After Weekend Fire
Fire broke out Saturday afternoon at townhouse next door to Woodlawn Fire Station.
Three people were displaced after a fire broke out at their townhouse Saturday afternoon in the Alexandria area of Fairfax County. The townhouse is located at 8690 Walutes Circle.
The Woodlawn Fire Station, at 8701 Lukens Lane, is next door (see map).
Firefighters saw smoke coming from the first floor when they arrived. Firefighters conducted an aggressive fire attack and quickly extinguished the fire. One occupant was home when the fire started, but escaped unharmed, the fire department said. Three occupants have been displaced, according to the fire department. Red Cross is assisting the three occupants.

There were no reported civilian or firefighter injuries. Damage is estimated at $93,750, according to Fairfax Fire and Rescue.
According to fire investigators, the fire was accidental. Combustibles too close to a heat source caused the fire.
