Uncle C's Chicken And Waffles Set To Open On Route 1

GROVETON, VA — Uncle C's Chicken and Waffles is preparing to open on Richmond Highway in the Groveton area on Friday, March 5. The location was formerly home to Jerry's Subs & Pizza.

Located at 6308 Richmond Highway, Alexandria, the restaurant aims to provide a mix of savory and sweet food. The owner said in an email to Patch that March 5 will be a soft opening. The restaurant will be adjusting staffing, recipes and equipment for a grand opening weeks later.

Uncle C's menu includes all-day breakfast platters and sandwiches, chicken sandwiches, the signature chicken and waffles, fried chicken, beer-battered cod, and jumbo shrimp. Foodies can pair their meal with sides like corn on the cob, fries, mac and cheese, and candied yams.

According to the business website, owner Sayed Q, also known as Uncle C, brings experience working at his family's restaurant and putting his twist on classic dishes. The restaurant plans to offer dine-in and takeout service. The business is working on an online ordering option.

Once open, hours will be 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Saturday, and 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Sunday.
