Huntington Provider Offers Drive-Thru Testing For Coronavirus
Patients can only visit the drive-thru testing site after receiving a telemedicine consultation.
HUNTINGTON, VA — A drive-thru testing site for the new coronavirus has opened for patients of Alexandria Immediate Care, a primary care and urgent care center in Huntington. AllCare has three drive-thru testing sites in the DC region: Alexandria Immediate Care, AllCare Ellicott City, and AllCare DC. Testing is available for patients following a telemedicine video appointment.
The Alexandria Immediate Care testing site is located in the back parking lot of 6020 Richmond Highway #102, Alexandria, VA 22303. Hours are 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and noon to 1 p.m. on weekends.
The first step is scheduling the virtual appointment to determine if testing is needed for the new coronavirus, or COVID-19. If that's the case, the patient will schedule a visit to visit the drive-thru testing site.

AllCare is using a commercial test from LabCorp. Patients must provide a swab sample collected from the nose or mouth and are encouraged to perform the swab themselves. The patients will stay in their vehicles during the entire drive-thru appointment and must provide ID on the site. The heat must be turned off in the vehicle during the visit.
AllCare says test results can take three to four business days and that most health insurance companies agreed to pay for the test. The cost for others or those who don't have insurance plans is $206 for the test and telemedicine visit.
