Volunteer Steals Thousands From Greater Alexandria Church: Police
Fairfax County Police believe a woman who volunteered for the church took thousands from collections.

GREATER ALEXANDRIA, VA—A woman is facing charges for stealing thousands of dollars from a church in Greater Alexandria.
On Sept. 7, a parish employee at Queen of Apostles Church (4329 Sano Street), reported suspicions of a volunteer taking money from weekly collections. The employee said the woman could have stolen money when she was counting the weekly collections.
Police set up surveillance and observed the suspect pocket money during her counting duties.

Sandra Irene Cortes, 53, of Annandale was arrested and charged with three counts of grand larceny. She was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
