Warm Cheese: Greater Alexandria Restaurant Violations

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Fairfax County regularly conducts health inspections for local restaurants. The frequency of inspections on the type of food served and how it is prepared.

“In our experience, it is unrealistic to expect that a complex, full-service food operation can routinely avoid any violations,” states the Virginia Department of Health’s website.

Here are some of the violations from recent inspections in July. Among the violations were warm foods such as cheeses that were stored as cold.

violations: refried beans, tamales, cheeses cold holding at improper temperatures, food contact surfaces have cracks that cannot be easily cleaned, refrigerator not operating properly

Silver Diner: 6320 Springfield Mall, Springfield, VA 22150, last inspection: July 12

violations: sausage hot holding at improper temperature, foods cold holding at improper temperatures, coolers not operating properly, floors, walls, shelves in need of cleaning, cutting boards not able to be properly sanitized due to scratching
