West Po Drops Senior Night Game Against T.C. Williams
The final game of regular season play highlighted seniors, as well as the West Potomac Dance Team.
A rough third quarter for the West Potomac girls basketball team against the T.C. Williams Titans sealed a 59-39 loss.
Despite the Titans' formidable record, the Wolverines held their ground through the entire first half, trailing by no more than two points at the end of the first and second quarters. Sophomore shooting guard Lindsey Sawczuk had a dominating presence from the beginning and, with the help of senior small forward Ashley Battle, helped to keep the Wolverines right on par with the Titans.
Titans Sade Barber, Rainie Summa and Brooke Ninman made a dangerous trio throughout the first half, but aggressive defense by Wolverine forward Resheika Gregory and Battle prevented the Titans normally tough offense from opening up their usual game strategies.

During halftime, the West Potomac High Dance Team performed with local children from pre-school through second grade to Outkast's "Hey Ya" in order to keep the energy of senior night going. This final performance from the team, complete with their tiny counterparts, was enthusiastic enough to keep the crowd going, but unfortunately couldn't carry through to the team on the court.
The second half saw T.C. Williams' offense get in motion, with huge scoring drives from Jasmine Norman and Barber. After racking up a solid 18 points in the third quarter to the Wolverines six, the Titans kept Wolverine defensive star Sawczuk at bay.

Numerous fouls from T.C. kept West Potomac on the board, and Rosie Sheehan played a strong second half in terms of rebounds, but the damaging third quarter was enough to keep the home team behind. Despite the ferocious first half, the Wolverines fell 59-39.
West Potomac's girls team will not continue on to district play. The Wolverines have a final record of 3-13.
