This week members of our Community Risk Reduction and EMS Divisions took time to deliver Letters of Commendation to West Potomac High School and Tysons Sport & Health. They were recognized for their response to possible life-threatening situations. While on site, photos of their AEDs were added to our electronic AED registry, PulsePoint AED.
The first moments of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) are critical in determining a person’s ability to survive. For every minute that passes without CPR or defibrillation SCA survival decreases by 7% -10%. Immediate Responders, persons at the scene of an emergency, have the ability to provide life-saving care to someone, with Hands-Only CPR and AED use, before emergency medical services arrive on scene.

We encourage our CPR trained residents to download the PulsePoint Respond app. PulsePoint Respond is a 911-connected mobile app that alerts CPR-trained users to someone nearby, in a public place, having a sudden cardiac arrest. It was also alert users to the nearest PulsePoint registered AED.
