Night of the Living Dead at West Potomac High School

Based on George A. Romero's 1968 original classic masterpiece horror genre film of the same title, Night of the Living Dead pits the dead against the living in a struggle for survival. There is panic throughout the nation as the dead suddenly come back to life. The story follows a group of people who barricade themselves into an old farmhouse in an attempt to remain safe from these flesh eating monsters. This gripping terror-filled play brings all the fright of the cult classic film to life. Its blend of thrilling horror laced with touches of black humor envelops the audience in the action and unfolds into a shocking theatrical ending.

Night of the Living Dead was previously performed by West Potomac High School in 2013. It was such a hit back then that we simply had to bring it back to life, much like the real zombies themselves! The current production gives a special nod to its BTPTC predecessor with the revival of two video clips from the previous production, and Valentina Selnick reprising her role as Karen Cooper. Yet, the current production also has many updated surprises, including a new Ultimate 4D Experience that puts the entire theatre house into terrifying play and puts select seats in the audience directly into the gruesome action as part of the "splash zone."

Assigned seating for all shows is $10; $12 for 4D splash zone seats (includes poncho). With our recent sell-out shows, we highly recommend purchasing tickets online ahead of time. Any remaining seats will be sold at the door.

For those who can't quite get enough of zombies, the cast and crew will hold a special Zombie Camp on January 7, 2017. This Camp is open to students grades 3-8 and will include lots of zombie fun including a special hair and makeup session. The cost of the camp is $50 per student, with a multi-sibling discount. Advance registration is required and is available online only at www.westpotomactheatre.org

Other shows produced this season by West Potomac High School are also based on movies, taking audiences Beyond the Silver Screen into live performances of silver screen classics. In the fall of 2016, the company performed three weekends of School of Rock - The Musical, to largely sold-out audiences. The upcoming spring production will be Billy Elliot, with performances in late April and early May.
