Aaron M. Engley, 42, who no longer works at the school, was accused of driving the student to an Alexandria bar last year, on Oct. 18 after the 2014 homecoming dance and buying her alcohol, the Post reported authorities as saying. WTOP reports he took the student to two bars.
Chief Judge Constance H. Frogale of the Alexandria Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court suspended all the time in Engley’s one-year sentence on the condition that he maintain good behavior and not have any contact with the 17-year-old, the Post reported.

“This case is an example of a school official abusing his position in a way that was harmful to a student. Our community rightfully places great trust in our school administrators to act responsibly and appropriately with our children. This kind of conduct constitutes a serious breach of that trust which cannot be condoned or ignored,” said Commonwealth’s Attorney Bryan Porter.
Fairfax County Public Schools spokesman John Torre told the Associated Press that Engley resigned in August and had been on administrative leave before that.
Engley is now living in Corolla, North Carolina, according to several news reports; he is listed as working as a teacher at Water’s Edge Village School for students in kindergarten to 6th grade, according to public reports from the charter school.
