Winter 2019 at Carlyle House

Programming at Carlyle House

This winter Carlyle House is excited to be offering two programs that are open to the public including our new program: Tell Me Your Name which focuses on the new research on the enslaved community at Carlyle House.

On February 2nd from 12pm-4pm we will be celebrating John Carlyle's 299th birthday with a free Open House. Join our reenactors in celebration with 18th Century music, dancing, and a birthday treat! The 1st Virginia will also be on site that day drilling and demonstrating throughout the day. This program does not require any registration.

In 2017 Carlyle House Historic Park undertook a new research project to improve their knowledge and interpretation of the site’s enslaved population. On either February 3rd or February 10th, join Maddy McCoy, founder of Slavery Inventory Database, LLC, for an illuminating tour on the new research of the enslaved community at Carlyle House. Join us in the conversation about identifying enslaved individuals and their communities and putting that into a historical and genealogical context. The Tell Me Your Name tour will be at 3:30pm on February 3rd and February 10th. The cost is $10 per person. With limited space available we suggest registration ahead of time.
