Woman Sexually Assaulted At Gunpoint In Woodlawn, Suspect Sought

Police are trying to identify a suspect who allegedly sexually assaulted a woman at gunpoint in the bushes.

WOODLAWN, VA — A woman was able to break free from a sexual assault Wednesday in Woodlawn, but Fairfax County Police have not yet identified a suspect.

The assault happened around 9:29 p.m. Wednesday in the 8700 block of Sacramento Drive. Police say the victim was walking east toward Richmond Highway when a suspect approached and pulled her into the bushes. The woman was sexually assaulted at gunpoint but was able to escape, according to police. The victim went to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect fled in an unknown direction. Despite a search by patrol units, K-9 and helicopter, police could not locate the suspect.

On Thursday, detectives canvassed the area to seek witnesses or surveillance footage of the suspect. The suspect is described as a man of an unknown race around 5 foot 8 to 6 foot with an average build. At the time, he was wearing black clothing, gloves and a black mask covering his head. Detectives are seeking home surveillance footage from residents in the area during the evening of Wednesday, Aug. 17.
