• Two teens charged with assault after teacher injured during fight at Mechanicsville High School bus loop (wric.com) — Two Mechanicsville High School students in Hanover County are facing assault and battery charges after a fight in the bus loop during dismissal left a teacher struck, though not seriously hurt. Deputies and school staff quickly broke up the altercation, and one teen also faces charges for allegedly threatening bodily injury and assaulting a school employee; officials emphasize no weapons were involved.
   

• Ada's on the River named Virginia's Restaurant of the Year; Sen. Bennett-Parker takes Legislator of the Year (alexandriabrief.com) — Hanover County's own Agriberry Farm & CSA has been named Supplier of the Year at Virginia's 2026 Ordinary Awards, putting a local farm in the statewide spotlight. The ceremony also honored restaurants, hotels, and hospitality workers across Virginia, while a Virginia State University student with local ties earned a top hospitality student award, underscoring regional strength in food and tourism.
