Third suspect arrested related to September Vine Street shooting in Harrisonburg (rocktownnow.com) — Harrisonburg police have arrested 19-year-old Preston Crawford of Broadway in connection with the September 1 shooting in the 200 block of Vine Street, where he was found with multiple gunshot wounds. Investigators say home security video shows Crawford entering an apartment with a handgun before the resident opened fire, and he now faces several felony charges including breaking and entering with intent to commit murder.
   

4. Harrisonburg City School Board passes resolution to join lawsuit against social media companies (rocktownnow.com) — Harrisonburg's City School Board has voted to join a nationwide lawsuit against major social media companies, seeking money to offset rising costs tied to student social media addiction and mental health impacts. Officials say the case targets platforms designed for compulsive youth use, and HCPS will only pay legal fees if damages are successfully recovered.
   

5. Isaiah 117 House is preparing to open its doors to foster children (dnronline.com) — A new Isaiah 117 House in Rockingham County is nearly ready to give Harrisonburg-area foster children a homelike place to stay instead of waiting in county offices after emergency removals. Working closely with Harrisonburg Rockingham Social Services, the home will offer beds, a stocked "giving room" of clothes and supplies, and short-term care while staff secure longer-term placements, with a grand opening expected by month's end.
