• Haysi Town Council seeks removal of mayor after arrest (wjhl.com) — Haysi's town council has begun the legal process to remove Mayor Larry Yates from office after his September arrest on multiple fraud and larceny charges. With Yates barred from town property and absent from meetings, the vice mayor is handling mayoral duties while the council pursues a lengthy expulsion process following his refusal so far to resign. 
• CSX Santa Train sets annual trip for Nov. 21 (trains.com) — The beloved CSX Santa Train will roll through Haysi on Nov. 21, stopping in town at 8:07 a.m. to hand out toys, gifts, and winter clothing. Running its 84th annual trip between Kentucky and Kingsport, the train brings a festive boost to Haysi families and neighbors along its Appalachian route.
