• Voting will begin September 18 for the November 3 General Election (rrecord.com) — Heathsville voters can begin in-person early voting for the November 3 General Election on September 18 at the Northumberland County Voter Registration Office on Back Street, with extended weekday and weekend hours through late October. You can also request a mail-in absentee ballot online, but must apply by October 23 if you want it sent by mail.
   

• Norris Bridge closed five hours following multi-vehicle crash, hazmat teams respond (rrecord.com) — A Heathsville resident driving a Peterbilt truck suffered minor, non-life-threatening injuries in a multi-vehicle crash that shut down the Norris Bridge for about five hours on September 4. State police say a work van crossed the centerline, triggering the collision, and hazmat crews spent hours cleaning up before the bridge reopened that afternoon.
