2022 Election: New Early Voting Locations To Open Near Herndon

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — As Fairfax County voters living in the Herndon area prepare to cast a ballot in the November congressional midterm election, additional early voting locations will be open.

Fairfax County's Office of Elections will open 13 additional early voting locations Thursday. They will join early voting locations at the Fairfax County Government Center (12000 Government Center Parkway, Conference Rooms 2/3, Fairfax, VA), Mount Vernon Governmental Center (2511 Parkers Lane Alexandria, VA) and North County Governmental Center (1801 Cameron Glen Drive Reston, VA).

New early voting locations close to Herndon are the Herndon-Fortnightly Library (768 Center St., Herndon) and the Great Falls Library (9830 Georgetown Pike, Great Falls 22066).

Other new early voting locations will include:

• Burke Centre Library: 5935 Freds Oak Road, Burke, VA
• Centreville Regional Library: 14200 St. Germain Drive, Centreville, VA
• Franconia Governmental Center: 6121 Franconia Road, Alexandria, VA
• Lorton Community Center: 9520 Richmond Highway, Lorton, VA
• Mason Governmental Center: 6507 Columbia Pike, Annandale, VA
• McLean Governmental Center: 1437 Balls Hill Road, McLean, VA
• Providence Community Center, 3001 Vaden Drive, Fairfax, VA
• Sully Governmental Center: 4900 Stonecroft Blvd., Chantilly, VA
• Thomas Jefferson Library: 7415 Arlington Blvd., Falls Church, VA
• Tysons-Pimmit Regional Library, 7584 Leesburg Pike, Falls Church, VA
• West Springfield Governmental Center: 6140 Rolling Road, Springfield, VA

Hours for all 13 new early voting locations are 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays from Oct. 27 to Nov. 5, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays, Oct. 29 and Nov. 5 and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30.

Voting hours at the Fairfax County Government Center are 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. on weekdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays, Oct. 29 and Nov. 5 and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30. Hours for the Mount Vernon Governmental Center and North County Governmental Center are 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays, Oct. 29 and Nov. 5 and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30.

An acceptable form of identification is required for in-person voting in Virginia. Curbside voting is an option for people 65 or older or with a disability.

On Nov. 8, Fairfax County residents living in the Herndon area will be voting in 11th congressional district race between incumbent Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-Fairfax) and Republican challenger Jim Myles. Here is a sample ballot for the 11th congressional district in Fairfax County.

In addition to the 11th congressional race, Town of Herndon residents will be casting ballots for mayor and town council. Here is a sample ballot for the Town of Herndon.

Voters who received a mail-in ballot have the choice to return their completed ballot at drop boxes during early voting hours at the early voting locations. A 24/7 secure drop box is also available outside the Fairfax County Government Center, as well as at all polling places from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 8.

Oct. 17 was the deadline for voter registration and updating a voter's address. Voters who did not update their registration before the Oct. 17 deadline can cast a provisional ballot on Election Day through the same day registration process.

If you are voting on Election Day, Nov. 8, you can visit your assigned polling place with an acceptable form of identification from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. To check your polling place, visit vote.elections.virginia.gov.
