Runners Take Part In First Turkey Trot Since Pandemic In Herndon

More than 320 people turned out Saturday morning for the first Turkey Trot 5K run in Herndon since the COVID-19 pandemic.

HERNDON, VA — More than 320 people showed up Saturday morning to run the first Turkey Trot 5K in the Town of Herndon since the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hosted by Herndon, Parks & Recreation the race ran through Bready Park, the W&OD Trail, and Herndon Centennial Golf Course. Runners were encouraged to dress in costume to celebrate the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.

The top male and female finishers each received turkeys, pies and gift certificates.

Top Male

  • First Place – Joe Lorusso
  • Second Place – James Luers
  • Third Place – Roman Steis

  • Second Place – Tatyana Steis
  • Third Place – Madison Saye

When the race was all done, participants enjoyed music and adult beverages provided by event sponsor Aslin Beer Company. Other community supporters included: HotWorx and Glory Days; and special contributions from Giant Food, Great Harvest, Wegmans, and Jimmy’s Old Town Tavern.
