Athlete of the Week: Austin Hamilton

Austin Hamilton leads Herndon to another big win. It's becoming a familiar refrain.

This time, Hamilton's 26 points, 21 of which came in the first half, carried the Hornets to a 61-40 win over Westfield.

His efforts once again earned him Herndon Patch's Athlete of the Week.

“He’s special. He wants to play at that level every night, and he can,” Hornets coach Chris Whelan said of the standout senior. “He’s a dynamic player.”

Hamilton tops the Patch Northern Region Player of the Year rankings. At this point, the honor is his to lose.

The Hornets return to action Tuesday when they host Robinson in a huge district matchup that features the No. 2 player in that POY race, Rams forward Mike Rice.
