Herndon Man Faces Misdemeanor Fondling Charge: Police Report
A Herndon man turned himself in at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center in connection with a recent fondling incident, police say.

HERNDON, VA — A 34-year-old Herndon man turned himself in on Nov. 2, at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center in connection with an incident that occurred in 1000 block of Elden Street, according to the weekly crime report.
Police charged Muhammed Sabih Merchant with one count of misdemeanor fondling of a victim that was known to him. He was released on a $2,000 unsecured bond, according to police.
From Oct. 31-Nov. 6, Herndon Police issued 71 traffic summonses, including two for driving while intoxicated, three for no operators license, two for driving on a suspended or revoked license, and four for operating a vehicle while holding a phone.

During the week, there were eight reportable traffic accidents in Herndon. Reportable accidents are those resulting in $1,500 property damage and/or injury, according to the Virginia State Police.
