Police: Herndon Woman Dies Following Friday Accident

A 58-year-old Herndon woman died early Saturday after being hit by a vehicle while crossing a busy street, according to Herndon police.

Ana Zavala was airlifted to Inova Fairfax Hospital soon after the accident, which occurred at about 7 a.m. Friday, according to a Herndon police press release. She was hit by a vehicle while crossing the Herndon Parkway near Summerfield Drive, in the western side of town.

Zavala succumbed to her injuries shortly after 3:30 a.m. Saturday, the press release stated.

The juvenile driver of the vehicle remained at the scene. A police accident reconstruction team is continuing to investigate the crash, the press release said.
