Stabbing On Elden Street Leaves 1 Injured; Police Investigate
Town of Herndon Police responded Thursday morning to the report of a stabbing following an altercation on Elden Street.

HERNDON, VA — Town of Herndon Police are investigating a Thursday morning stabbing incident on Elden Street, according to posts on the department's official Twitter page.
Officers responded around 9:26 a.m., for the the report of a stabling in the 1000 block of Elden Street. The male victim was involved in a verbal altercation, which ended with him being stabbed, according to an 11:02 a.m. Twitter post. The victim was taken to Reston Hospital to be treated for his wounds. Police say he is in stable condition.
Police described the suspect as a Hispanic man, standing 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10 in height. At the time of the incident, he was wearing an olive baseball cap and dark shirt. He was carrying a gray backpack with blue trim.

The suspect, who was last seen heading toward Alabama Avenue, may be armed, police said. Fairfax County Police helicopter FFX1 was assisting in the search.
For a period of time on Thursday morning, schools in the area were told to go into lockdown, according to an update on Twitter. As of 11:04 a.m., the lockdown was lifted.

HPD spokeswoman Lisa Herndon confirmed in an email that as of 1 p.m., the suspect had not been apprehended. However, she added police expect to file charges later today or tomorrow.
"While the suspect has not be apprehended, we do not believe he poses an immediate danger to our community," she said.
