• The Bookshelf on Church is conducting a book drive to help Ukrainian students (rrecord.com) — A Kilmarnock bookstore is inviting neighbors to help fill a pallet with 500 books for Ukrainian students and libraries. The Bookshelf on Church, at 28 West Church Street, is running its Back-to-School Book Drive through October 31, giving local residents a simple way to share their love of reading with children overseas.
   

• Free health clinic celebrates impact and expansion of the HOPE Initiative (rrecord.com) — Kilmarnock's Northern Neck Middlesex Free Health Clinic has been honored for its early and ongoing role in the HOPE Initiative, a peer recovery program helping people with substance use disorders. During National Recovery Month, clinic representative Sam Turner accepted an award recognizing the clinic as one of the first in Virginia to expand this life-changing support through an Anthem-funded grant.
