PURCELLVILLE, VA — JK Community Farm is seeking teams of volunteers to participate in its 2nd annual Plant-A-Thon May 15-16 at its farm in western Loudoun County. Volunteers will plant up to 5,000 seedlings that will be able to produce more than 16,000 meals for families in need, JK Community Farm said.

The event will have only 10 volunteers per time slot in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines on social distancing and will be stretched over two days if needed to accommodate all groups. JK Community Farm is classified as an essential business.

"Hunger is a reality for many in the community; and due to coronavirus, food insecurity is growing exponentially," JK Community Farm said in a statement. "As food donations from grocery stores to food pantries have diminished, the JK Community Farm has become a lifeline for thousands of families."
