Corey Stewart Calls House Republicans 'Flaccid, Pathetic'
He attacked Virginia House Republicans for backing a Medicaid expansion.

RICHMOND, VA -- U.S. Senate hopeful Corey Stewart made some waves in Richmond Thursday as he showed up to the state Capitol with a roll of toilet paper, using it to attack House Republicans who support Medicaid expansion. He attacked Republicans, calling them "flaccid" and "pathetic."
“House Republicans are flimsier than toilet paper, except toilet paper actually has use,” Stewart said in a statement. “They’re so pathetic. It is time to get rough and remove these weak Republicans from office.”
One of five Republicans looking to replace Sen. Tim Kaine, Stewart gained a following last year when he nearly beat Ed Gillespie for the Republican nomination for Governor of Virginia.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch reported Stewart as saying “When you lie to your constituents and tell them that you're going to vote against Medicaid because it's bad for Virginia and then you go up there because of political cowardice and vote for it, you're pathetic and you're useless. In fact, I compare them to toilet paper,” before ripping off a square of toilet paper.
Virginia state legislators voted Thursday to fund state operations and will begin the process for expanding Medicaid, according to Democratic state legislator Mark Keam.

Republican Terry Kilgore of Scott County was one of the first to express support for Medicaid expansion. He saw Stewart's speech near the Capitol as off-base. “It’s easy to sit back and throw stones when you're not governing,” Kilgore said. “But we have to govern here."
