COVID-19 Testing Event, Vaccine Appointments Cancelled Due To Weather In Loudoun County

Snow is in the forecast on Thursday night, and officials in Loudoun County are changing plans for testing and vaccine events on Friday.

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — Loudoun County announced that vaccine appointments for Friday, Jan. 7 will be rescheduled due to anticipated inclement weather. The free COVID-19 testing event that was planned for Friday morning in Leesburg has been cancelled.

COVID-19 tests have been in high demand as COVID-19 cases have soared in northern Virginia and across the country. Last month, Loudoun County announced that they were expanding their free testing program.

Loudoun County plans to host free COVID-19 testing events every Tuesday and Friday through the end of January. Recent free testing events have quickly run out of tests due to high demand.

Anyone who had an appointment scheduled at Loudoun County's COVID-19 vaccine clinic at Dulles Town Center on Friday will have their appointment automatically moved to next week. Those with appointments will have the option to change to a date that is more convenient for them. County officials said they had already reached out to everyone who had an appointment scheduled for Friday.

Eastern Loudoun County is under a winter weather advisory until 5 a.m. Western portions of the county are under the same advisory until 3 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.

Officials have forecasted between 2 and 4 inches of snow, beginning around 9 p.m. on Thursday.

Loudoun County's next free COVID-19 testing event is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 11. The event will be held at Phillip Bolen Memorial Park. More information about upcoming testing events is available on the county's website.
