Deadline Extended For 2020 Tolbert Environmental Achievement Award Nominations

Nominations will be accepted through Feb. 21.

Leesburg, VA (February 8, 2021) – The Leesburg Environmental Advisory Commission (EAC) is extending the nomination deadline for the 2020 Tolbert Environmental Achievement Award. Nominations will now be accepted through Sunday, February 21, 2021.

This award program recognizes students, community groups and individuals who conduct or participate in activities that benefit the Town’s environment. Activities that benefit the Town’s environment include:

• Innovative use of recycled materials (including composting, collection programs for materials that are recyclable or reusable)
• Pollution prevention
• Waste reduction
• Protection of the natural environment
• Habitat Improvement
• Beautification of the environment
• Environmental education
• Monitoring the condition of Leesburg’s environment (streams, habitat, etc.)

To make a nomination, please visit www.leesburgva.gov/eac and click the link to fill out the nomination form. The form requests a brief narrative describing the person or group being nominated, why they deserve to be recognized, and contact information for the person making the nomination. Please be specific about their efforts and achievements and include quantifiable measures of success, if possible. Photos and other supplemental information may also be submitted. The 2020 Tolbert Environmental Achievement Award will be presented at a future Leesburg Town Council meeting.
