Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwich Shop was officially welcomed to Leesburg during a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday morning.
The business first opened to the public on August 24 and has been doing quite well according to owners Glenn and Janet Berry. The husband wife team said they are excited to be in the area and so far the business has gone well beyond their expectations.
“We’re absolutely excited,” Glenn Berry said. “It’s been three months of dedicated training so that we can get our crew up to speed and we’re really looking forward to performing excellent customer service with a great sandwich product.”

According to Berry, he and his wife found out about the chain while visiting their daughter at Virginia Tech.
“There are two down there so we ate there a lot,” he said. “We liked the product before we even considered buying the franchise.”

According to its website, Jimmy John’s was founded in 1983 by 19-year-old Jimmy John Liautaud in a converted garage in Charleston, Illinois.
Since its inception, the company has grown to over 1,300 corporate and franchised locations in 41 states throughout the U.S. The company is known for its obsession with fresh, quality products and high-speed execution. Currently, the sandwich shop can be found in Herndon, Vienna, Alexandria, Arlington and Washington, D.C. The Leesburg shop marks the 16th Jimmy John’s location in the state of Virginia.
“It’s probably the best sandwich product around,” Berry said. “We’re going to be infiltrating Northern Virginia now.”
Town Council member Katie Hammler said she and her husband are already dedicated and loyal to Jimmy John’s. Prior to the Leesburg location they would get their sandwiches while visiting near James Madison University.
“We know that [Leesburg] is a great market just in terms of demographics and what we love, as council members, is restaurants opening,” Hammler said. “We’re thrilled and we love to be not only the arts, culture, entertainment destination, but restaurants all around town are great for everybody.”
Leesburg Economic Development Manager Marantha Edwards said Jimmy John's brings a fresh perspective to the traditional sandwich shop.
"Their success can be directly attributed to the quality of their food and customer service," Edwards said. "Jimmy John’s is a welcome addition to the Leesburg restaurant community.”
In celebration of their grand opening, Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwich Shop will offer $1.00 sandwiches from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Leesburg shop, located at 11 Catoctin Circle.
