Leesburg Police Department Raises $3,000 In No Shave November
The Leesburg Police Department raised $3,000 in No Shave November to donate to Inova Loudoun's Cancer Patient Assistance Fund.
LEESBURG, VA — For one month, officers with the Leesburg Police Department were allowed to disregard the agency's usual facial hair standards. The police department allowed the temporary change for No Shave November, to start conversations about cancer awareness.
The Leesburg Police Department said they raised $3,000 through No Shave November efforts. On Wednesday, the department said they would donate the funds to Inova Loudoun's Cancer Patient Assistance Fund.
"The purpose of the campaign is to bring awareness to patients that often lose their hair secondary to cancer treatment," the Leesburg Police Department said in a statement on Wednesday. "Officers and staff who chose to participate, each personally made a monetary donation and independently collected donations which have all been donated to the Cancer Patient Assistance Fund at Inova Loudoun Hospital."

"The goal of No-Shave November is to grow awareness by embracing our hair, which many cancer patients lose, and letting it grow wild and free," the offical No Shave November organization says on their website. "Donate the money you typically spend on shaving and grooming to educate about cancer prevention, save lives, and aid those fighting the battle."
