Leesburg Police Officer Retires After Providing 30 Years Of Public Service To The Town

We would like to congratulate Officer Michael Buracker on his upcoming retirement from the Leesburg Police Department on January 1, 2021, after providing 30 years of public service to the Town.

Officer Buracker began his employment with the Town of Leesburg on July 1, 1987 when he was hired by the Department of Public Works. In 1988, Officer Buracker transitioned to a Field Supervisor role with Wells Fargo security before returning to the Town. Officer Buracker was hired by the Leesburg Police Department on September 3, 1991.
While a member of the Leesburg Police Department, Officer Buracker has served in a variety of specialized positions and roles in which he demonstrated outstanding commitment and dedication to serving the Leesburg community. Some of those roles have included patrol supervisor, detective, traffic officer, and school resource officer. Officer Buracker is most proud of the donated holiday meals and donated Christmas presents that he and other school resource officers were able to obtain for some of their less fortunate students over the past few years.

Throughout his career, Officer Buracker received a variety of awards, some of which included a lifesaving award, a meritorious service award, a medal of merit, a silver medal, a unit citation, and a certificate of valor. Additionally, over the years, the Leesburg Police Department has received numerous letters of thanks from the public, from Town employees, and from our law enforcement partners for the positive interactions that they each have had with Officer Buracker.
In his free time, Officer Buracker enjoys golfing and fishing. In retirement, Officer Buracker looks forward to spending time with his daughter and his family, as well as spending more time in Myrtle Beach.
