Leesburg Restaurant Inspections: Violations At 2 Locations

The Loudoun County Health Department found several violations during recent follow-up inspections in Leesburg.

LEESBURG, VA — Officials from the Loudoun County Health Department inspected multiple restaurants across the Leesburg area from June 30 to July 6, including two locations with violations.

Both of the recorded violations came from follow-up inspections, the health department said.

As coronavirus restrictions continue to loosen around the state, health inspectors are returning to conduct restaurant inspections in person. However, some visits, such as those for training purposes, can be conducted virtually.

Violations at restaurants typically focus on factors that can contribute to food contamination. The local health department also performs a re-inspection to ensure that possible violations have been corrected.

For every observed violation, the inspector provides a specific corrective action that can be completed to rectify the violation. Sometimes these are simple, and violations can be corrected during the course of the inspection.

    • Total violations and corrective actions: 2
    • Violations:
      • The internal temperature of the following foods were observed over 41 F while cold holding: house slaw 43, cut lettuce 43, cooked potatoes 45, stewed tomatoes 47, cooked wings 45 F.
      • The kitchen is using a high temperature dish machine to clean and sanitize food utensils but has not way to verify the food utensils are getting hot enough to sanitize.
  • Ana’s Market, 707 L East Market St Leesburg, VA 20176
    • Date inspected: July 6
    • Total violations and corrective actions: 1
    • Violation:
      • Proper cold holding not corrected at time of inspection. EHS discussed with owner. Per owner, during busy periods, unit gets warmer. EHS discussed unit needs to maintain food at proper temperatures even during busy periods. EHS will follow up on 7/7/21.
