More Positive Signs for Homebuyers

Recent housing market reports on early 2014 have shown incredible numbers, indicating that buyer’s now have the upper hand when looking for a new home.  Year-over-year in January, national home values rose 6.3% and the number of homes on the market climbed by 11.1%.  In fact, an incredible 82% of metro areas surveyed by Zillow saw increases in home inventory.

Stan Humphries, Zillow Chief Economist, believes that a better-balanced market is a step in the right direction towards a normal economy and housing market.  Further increases in home inventory could level out home prices and stabilize mortgage rates – which is all good news for homebuyers.  However, once the spring home shopping season is in full swing, inventory could decline, putting newly built homes in high demand.
