Sgt Maj John Champe Chapter SAR presented a SAR Law Enforcement Medal to First Sergeant Alvin Blankenship
The SAR Law Enforcement Commendation medal recognizes outstanding achievement and dedication to the maintenance of Law and Order
Virginia State Police First Sergeant Alvin Blankenship was surprised on Wednesday, June 3, when he entered the Division 7, area 10 office for the Virginia State Police in Leesburg. Many of his close associates and friends were there to say farewell to a man who served as the supervisor for the Division. First Sergeant Blankenship is retiring from active service.
The Sgt Maj John Champe Chapter (SMJC) Virginia Society SAR presented First Sergeant Blankenship the SAR Law Enforcement Commendation Medal and Certificate. His service was summarized in this citation:
"First Sergeant Alvin D. Blankenship has served this Nation and the Commonwealth of Virginia with the highest level of integrity, honor, and distinction in the field of Law Enforcement for over forty-five years.

Alvin began his career in Law Enforcement with the Department of Corrections in Tazwell County, Virginia, prior to joining the Virginia State Police on November 1, 1980. During his extensive law enforcement career, Alvin has served in many capacities to include Trooper, Sergeant, and in his current role as First Sergeant for Division 7, Area 10. In addition, First Sergeant Blankenship served with the Division 7 Scuba Search and Rescue Team. Throughout his career First Sergeant Alvin D. Blankenship was a stellar role model and mentor to new recruits as well as his counterparts and was dedicated to the safety and wellbeing of the citizens of this Nation and the Commonwealth of Virginia.
It is with great pleasure and honor that the Sergeant Major John Champe Chapter of the Virginia Society, Sons of The American Revolution, presents First Sergeant Alvin D. Blankenship, for his years of service with distinction and devotion, the Law Enforcement Commendation and Medal."

Representing the SMJC Chapter was represented by President Barry Schwoerer, Rhett Wade and Jim Cromer. Compatriot Wade presented First Sergeant Blankenship a hand-made memento of his service for the Virginia State Police.
