Sgt Maj John Champe Chapter SAR presented two Life Saving medals and Certificates
Two staff members at the Ashburn Senior Center received the SAR Life Saving Medal and certificate for saving the life of a senior citizen

In June 2025 senior citizen Marc Moore was playing Pickle Ball at the Ashburn Senior Center when he collapsed. He was discovered unconscious, breathing roughly, and with no heartbeat. Ashburn Senior Center staff members Michelle Ferris and Aristotle Porras applied CPR and used a defibrillator to gain a heartbeat. Emergency Medical personnel arrived to take over after the citizen regained consciousness.
Mr. Moore recovered and has returned to visiting the Ashburn Senior Center. For their quick and effective action in saving the life of another, both Porras and Ferris were awarded the SAR Life Saving Medal and certificate.
Making the presentation were: Sgt Maj John Champe Chapter President Barry Schwoerer and Public Service Committee Chairman Jim Cromer. The Chapter serves Loudoun County and parts of adjacent counties. For more information about the chapter please view our website at: https://johnchampe-sar.org
