Sgt Maj John Champe Chapter SAR takes Float to Lovettsville Community Park on July 3, 2026
The float was the backdrop for a display and celebration of the Nation's 250th birthday and reading of the Declaration of Independence
Compatriots Warner Workman and Barry Schwoerer took a float to Lovettsville Community Park for the Independence Day Celebration, reading of the Declaration of Independence, and Fireworks Display. The float has a Statue of Liberty, 1/3 size Liberty Bell visitors can ring, and carries a desk used for signing the Declaration of Independence. Multiple graphics, both on and off the float, tell about SAR, Sgt Maj John Champe, and display flintlock weapons used in the Revolution.
Just before the fireworks, Compatriot Schwoerer, read the Declaration of Independence to an audience estimated at over 250 persons. At the end of the event, the copy of the Declaration of Independence signed by over 100 visitors, was presented to the event organizer.
The Lovettsville parade was cancelled because of extreme hot weather.
