Sgt Maj John Champe Chapter VA SAR won "Best Presentation" float at the Purcellville Independence Day Parade
The Best Presentation for the theme"Celebrating 250 years of Freedom" was presented at the Cannons Baseball game July 10
A float designed and owned by Sgt Maj John Champe Chapter VA SAR Compatriot Warner Workman was entered in the 2026 Purcellville Independence Day Parade held on June 27. The theme for 2026 was "Celebrating 250 years of Freedom". The Purcellville Business Association selected the float as Best Presentation for meeting the theme.
The award, a small wood American flag and a gift certificate for an Apple Pie at Mom's Apple Pie at Hill High, was presented just before the start of the baseball game between the Purcellville Cannons and Woodstock River Bandits held at historic Fireman's Field in Purcellville.
Three compatriots of SMJC chapter accepted the award and then advanced and presented the flag for the National Anthem. Participating for the chapter were: President Barry Schwoerer, Warner Workman and Steve Van Deusen.
