Sgt Maj John Champe SAR Chapter participated in a Fairfax County naturalization ceremony

The Chapter joined a SAR Team to present colors to open the Ceremony and provide photo opportunities with newly naturalized citizens

On June 12 at the Fairfax Government Center, eighty-five immigrants to the United States were naturalized. The Virginia Society Sons of the American Revolution multi-chapter color guard presented colors to open the naturalization ceremony. After the ceremony the new citizens were given an opportunity to sign a large copy of the Declaration of Independence, given small parchment copies of the Declaration and given commemorative poker chips. The majority of the SAR team remained on site to give new citizens opportunities for photographs with SAR members in the uniforms of their patriot ancestors.

The SAR team was led by Jim Cordes from the Fairfax Resolves Chapter. Other Virginia SAR Chapters represented included: Culpeper Minutemen, Colonel James Wood II, Colonel William Grayson, and Sgt Maj John Champe (SMJC). SMJC chapter was represented by Barry Schwoerer, Ken Bonner and Warner Workman.

The SMJC Chapter was selected as Best Medium Sized Chapter in Virginia SAR for 2025. For more information about the chapter please visit our website at: https://johnchampe-sar.org
