Sgt Maj John Champe SAR at Hamilton for Memorial Day

The Chapter participated in the Memorial Day parade and at Hamilton Community Park to display the wares of Patriots in the Revolution

The second of two floats operated by the Sgt Maj John Champe Chapter SAR was in the May 25, 2026 Memorial Day parade in Hamilton. Decorated to memorialize those that gave their lives in defense of our county, the float also commemorates the founding of our county and the many Patriots who died winning our freedom.

The float was towed by Chapter president Barry Schwoerer. Riding the float and ringing the 1/3 size liberty bell was Vice President Mark Sink, Secretary Jack Curtis and Jack's son Ben.

After the parade, the float was taken to the Hamilton Community Park where the accoutrements of a Patriot were displayed, Colonial Crafts and Games made available for visitors, and a variety of items given out.
